LUCAS SILVA has scored two goals and assisted four more as Inter Milan defeated Genoa 4-1 on Sunday to move up to second place in Serie A.

Silva, who made his debut for the club last season, scored both of his goals in the first half after being introduced by coach Marco Materazzi.

The Brazilian striker then assisted Alessandro Costacurta's goal in the second half before he was sent off for a foul on Leonardo Bonucci.

However, the Italian manager praised Silva's performance and said that the team could have won the game with him at the back.

Inter had already secured their sixth consecutive win and were now unbeaten in six matches overall, while Genoa suffered their third defeat in four games.

Despite losing the game, Inter still remain fourth in the table behind Juventus, Napoli and Roma,Campeonato Brasileiro Action with only three points separating them from third-placed Fiorentina.

Silva is one of the most versatile players in Italy, having played as a forward, central defender or winger over the years.

He has been a regular in the starting line-up since joining Inter in 2017 and has scored nine goals this season, which has helped the team reach their current position.

The match against Genoa was Silva's first league appearance since returning from injury, but he showed why he is such a valuable asset to the team.

With his performances continuing to impress, Silva will be hoping to continue his impressive form and help Inter progress towards the Champions League next season.
