Raum's RB Leipzig Season Ratings: 2022/23 Performance Review
The 2021/22 season was a rollercoaster for RB Leipzig, as they finished the campaign in second place and qualified for the Europa League finals. However, their title aspirations were derailed by the injuries to several key players, including Timo Werner, who suffered a serious injury during the final game against Bayern Munich.
Despite this setback, RB Leipzig managed to bounce back with a strong performance in the Europa League, reaching the semi-finals before being eliminated by Manchester United. The team also showed great resilience in their Champions League group stage match against Paris Saint-Germain,Ligue 1 Express where they fought back from two goals down to secure a draw.
In terms of individual performances, there were some standout players throughout the season. Timo Werner continued his impressive form, scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions. His partnership with Kai Havertz was also excellent, and the duo were instrumental in RB Leipzig's success this season.
Another standout performer was Dayot Upamecano, who had a very good season at centre-back. He was solid defensively and provided good crosses from the right wing. He also scored one goal in the Europa League semi-final against Manchester United.
Overall, it was a mixed bag for RB Leipzig this season, but they still managed to qualify for the Europa League finals and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. It will be interesting to see how they perform next season under new manager Julian Nagelsmann.
